President-Elect Trump eclipsed the 270 electoral vote threshold on Tuesday, officially defeating Hillary Clinton and clearing the path to January's inauguration.
Corey Stewart, Republican candidate for Governor in Virginia, released the following statement on Mr. Trump's electoral victory
"I would like to congratulate President-Elect Donald Trump, Vice-President Elect Mike Pence, and the entire Trump Team on their successful election. Yesterday the Electoral College made it official. The Trump Administration is already hard at work working to restore safety, prosperity, and the rule of law, and I look forward to seeing Mr. Trump's strong efforts pay dividends for all Americans."
Mr. Trump defeated Ms. Clinton handily, tallying 304 electoral votes to her 227.
After all the noise about faithless Republican electors leaving Mr. Trump and potentially handing the election to Ms. Clinton, the majority of faithless electors who didn't vote for their state's nominee were Hillary Clinton's electors, mainly from Washington State, according to Breitbart News.
President-elect Donald J. Trump is to be officially sworn in as the 45th President of the United States on Friday, January 20, 2017, in Washington D.C.
