Gillespie Campaign Wages False Attack Against Stewart's Family

Woodbridge, VA – Republican gubernatorial candidate Corey Stewart's campaign responded to the false attacks waged on him and his family by Gillespie's inner circle this week.

James Cohen went to Facebook to post a classless attack on Corey Stewart and his family on behalf of the Gillespie campaign to thousands of Republican activists on the Virginia Beach Republicans Facebook page.

James Cohen runs Grassroots for Ed Gillespie, a Gillespie campaign authorized Facebook page, has organized office space in Virginia Beach for the campaign, and is a public endorser for Ed Gillespie.

"I love my husband very much and it hurts me that the Gillespie campaign has chosen to attack Corey and my family this way," Maria Stewart, Corey's wife of 22 years responded. She continued, "Corey is an honorable man, loving husband and father, and treats me and all women with the utmost respect."

Gillespie has mastered the art of avoidance. Whether it's a tough issue or an attack on his competition, Establishment Ed thinks he can win this race by proxy. He cannot avoid taking responsibility for this attack and must be held accountable for his campaign's actions.

The Stewart campaign is calling for Gillespie to publicly apologize and disavow James Cohen and these statements.
