Woodbridge, VA - Republican Corey Stewart received the endorsement of Gun Owners of America in the race for the GOP nomination for Governor of Virginia today.
"Gun Owners of America has proudly endorsed Corey Stewart for Governor," said Tim Macy, Chairman of Gun Owners of America. "Stewart is an outspoken supporter of Constitutional Carry. And he has expressed some of the most pro-gun stances of any gubernatorial candidate in recent history."
"Since the right to self-defense is God-given, Virginians should not have to ask permission to exercise that right. Constitutional Carry legislation would make that a reality," Stewart said. "As governor of Virginia, on of my first actions will be to direct the General Assembly to send a strong Constitutional Carry bill to my desk, and I will sign it," Stewart pledged.
"The right to protect one's self and one's family from harm is paramount in a peaceful, civil society, and I will make sure every Virginian has the ability to exercise that right without infringement," Stewart concluded.
The endorsement comes on the heels of a ChangeResearch.org poll showing Stewart surging to a 42-41 lead over D.C. lobbyist Ed Gillespie.
