Corey, Maria, and sons Isaac and Luke
Corey A. Stewart was re-elected Chairman at-large of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in 2007. Prince William is located 25 miles South of Washington, D.C. and is the Commonwealth of Virginia’s second-most populated county in the Commonwealth of Virginia with a population of 400,000 people.
Under Chairman Stewart’s leadership, the Board has trimmed County spending by more than $140 million, resulting in:
- Average tax bills being reduced to the lowest level in four years (averaging 35% below those in neighboring Fairfax County);
- The County being upgraded to AAA bond rating status by both Fitch and Moody’s (which fewer than 1% of localities achieve); and
- CNN Money rating Prince William County the #1 job growth locality in Virginia, #1 in the entire D.C. Region, and #17 in the nation.
Chairman Stewart has received national and regional recognition for other accomplishments, including:
- Implementing the nation’s toughest crackdown on illegal immigration, resulting in the deportation of over 3,000 criminal illegal aliens;
- Reducing violent crime 29.85% since he took office, leaving overall crime at a 15 year low;
- Reforming the business and permitting process and the County’s economic development efforts; and
- Establishing the County’s first independent Department of Audit Services and strengthening the County’s internal controls.
Chairman Stewart is an international trade attorney in private practice. He earned his Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Chairman Stewart received his Bachelor’s degree from GeorgetownUniversity’s School of Foreign Service.
Chairman Stewart resides in Woodbridge, VA with his wife Maria and two sons, Isaac and Luke.
